As a Test Engineer, you will perform highly advanced (senior-level) test engineering and computer programming work that involves overseeing testing, analyzing proposed applications, and designing software testing solutions.The OAG is committed to providing innovative, modern, and value-driven IT services to the agency. Oversees and/or performs work developing and executing test engineering procedures, processes and test automation scripts that are highly complex in nature or large in scale.Oversees and/or performs highly complex coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of modern applications from a testing perspective.Oversees and/or performs the research and the analysis required for all automated testing development and engineering activity for software and systems modifications, and new projects.Oversees and/or analyzes, test designs, test plans, test diagrams, and verifies testing procedures for existing and proposed applications. Oversees and/or develops instructions or manuals for developers and/or testers to execute automated testing programs and scripts using the suite of CSD adopted testing tools.Oversees and/or performs work on programming projects including those that are highly complex in nature or large in scale. Oversees and/or performs highly complex coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of applications.Oversees and/or performs the research and the analysis required for project proposals, software and systems modifications, and new projects. Oversees and/or analyzes, designs, plans, diagrams, and verifies procedures for existing and proposed applications. Oversees and/or develops instructions or manuals for end users.Reviews and evaluates automated test programming efforts in relation to application and systems requirements.Provides technical advice, assistance, and recommendations in matters related to test engineering operations and problems. May occasionally manage multiple automated test programming projects.May supervise the work of others.Performs related work as assignedMaintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functionsAttends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Qualifications: Education: Graduation from high school or equivalentEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: computer science, systems analysis, software testing, computer information systems, management information systems, or other related fields.Experience: Five years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: computer science, systems analysis, software testing, computer information systems, management information systems, or other related fields.Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems analysis; of computer operations procedures and systems; and of computer programming languagesKnowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of automated test engineering programming and systems analysis; of computer operations procedures and systems; and of any associated automation processes or programming languages.Skill in problem solving, in critical thinking, in programming, in the use of hardware and software, and in modifying or developing software for applications.Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlinesSkill in effective oral and written communicationSkill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision makingAbility to process information logically; to design programs and systems logic; to prepare program specifications; to code, test, and debug software; to interpret technical information related to programming and other areas of data processing; to communicate effectively; and to supervise the work of othersAbility to receive and respond positively to constructive feedbackAbility to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environmentAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travelAbility to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSAAbility to lift and relocate 30 lbs.Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with state government systemsExperience with Texas Child Support ProgramAdvanced degrees and education related to computer programming, test engineering, computer systems, and information technology.Experience with Selenium, Ready API and other test automation and performance testing tools.Experience with Agile development methodologies.Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)
